Buried Alive fades in on the recording, so it's good from what I can hear. Poor Heart has funny moments because Trey errantly calls out Leo for the Cactus solo, leading him to call everyone Boss, or Hoss, by the end. The mysterious "extra" solo section is gone too, before the last verse. Cavern was well played, but why so early? Maze was absolutely great! Forbin's was good, and has a great story, as usual. "We're riding the tube!" Mockingbird was also very well played. Rift is also much better than the last few I've heard. Stash was solid, but rudely cut off, most likely by an old tape flip? Anyway, it comes back in time for a standard Bouncing. IDK comes with multiple nicknames, the announcement that Fishman's parents are there, and the loving trombone solo for them. A little foolishness ensues before a solid Bowie closes up an exceptional first set. Very well played overall!
Suzy was a little off sounding, like the reverb/delay got in the way of their timing. Also Fish seems to be on his best behavior and doesn't scream as much. Ice had some rough spots in the middle from Trey and was a little off on the timing. Sparkle was much better tonight, although this time it sounds like Mike and Page are ahead of the timing curve and almost falling off. Wilson was pretty good and had a nice strange jam at the end. Trey fell off bad in the intro of a fast YEM. He also had some rough parts in the middle, but the jam and the vocal jam were good, including a "church choir" ending. Pen was very sloppy tonight and was also cut at the end like an old tape flip. We cut back in during the Ball Jam, which has a sloppy ending. Strange to hear FEFY after that, and this one had some rough parts from all of them at different times. Then HYHU brings Fish back out with Mimi for a Brain and some vacuum solos. Very funny stuff tonight on that one. Golgi was alright, nothing too fancy or great. Mars almost sounds like a surprise as Mike takes a second to get in and then rushes through the second verse. Strange way to end a strange set.
Grace was also cut off on the recording I heard. I'm sure it was fine. So, GTBT is rocked out to finish off this better than average show. The recording has a lot of static and pops in it at this point, like it's a bad DAT tape.
Really, check out the first set of this one, at the very least Maze. This is definitely four star playing. A day off seems to help so much.
