DollarBill The second night at the Paradise in Boston was also a fun listen after last night’s antics.

Fishman gets the call early on as IDK opens the show with a vacuum solo. La Grange was a pretty standard cover to get warmed up to, but the ending suffered a bit. YEM was really nice and solid with a great delay unit laden vocal jam at the end. Mike still had his bass effects on at the beginning of a good Oh Kee Pa, which came to a complete stop before an ok Dinner and a Movie. Gin had some timing issues tonight where everyone was not quite locking in with the drums in my opinion. The new My Sweet One was pretty good tonight. Hood also showed some timing issues and maybe it was just a little rusty, but good overall. The trend of ending sets with covers continues with a rocking GTBT to close the first set.

Alumni > LTJP opens the second set, and its pretty good, not great though. Rocky Top gets dedicated to Page’s sister, but also sounded just ok to me. Divided Sky also seemed to have some timing issues with the drums, but was ok overall. Walk Away was good, but also a little rusty and then Trey broke a string. So Fishman announces their upcoming New Year’s show while Trey tunes up for a pretty good version of Lizards considering the new string. Mike’s groove was tight, although Hydrogen showed the need to keep tuning that new string on the guitar. Weekapaug rocked as usual, then Fishman gets the call again and comes out front to do Brain with another vacuum solo. At least he remembered most of the lyrics to this one! Closing with another cover song, Highway to Hell was rocking.

The brand new Lawn Boy gets the nod tonight for the first encore, and then Possum is a great rocking way to send everybody home on a high note. “Live long and prosper” was the mantra for the night.

Solid show tonight, though nothing stands out too much for me. Maybe the YEM jam and the second Lawn Boy?
