UtilityMuffin This was my 3rd Phish show. It is a shame the recording is so bad because they absolutely ripped. The band showed up very late due to a blizzard. The bar staff wasn't sure if they'd even make it. They set up quickly and did a live sound check for the crowd that blew the roof off. That really set the mood for the evening. Very high energy! The set listed as above as "Set 1" is actually the 2nd set.

Kpmandolin My first show, and really just going out to the Haunt to see a band that we only had heard of because of us all being Deadheads. My buddy went to Ithaca College, so we drove down to visit him, party, and check Phish out. The roads were crap and snowing like all hell, by the time the band went on, we and everyone else there were pretty shitfaced. They did tear it up for it basically being just a bar band, with bar sound, and a lot of drunken chatter. One thing I took away from it was that they were definitely not the Grateful Dead, but they were damn good!!!

TheEmu Ugh. I guess the music, or at least, what I could hear of the music was OK, but the recording is simply awful and more or less unlistenable. It sounds like someone holding a memo recorder down by their hip at the very back of packed venue. The crowd noise is far more clear than the music. ("Punch 'em in the eye!! Bathtub Gin!! Bong hits!!") I don't really have anything to say about the music, but, in keeping with my practice of considering recording quality as part of the ratings, I gotta slap a one star on this. Nothing to hear here, move along.

DollarBill Well it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be to listen to this for an hour, but it was a really awful recording to hear. Too bad that's the case with this one, because from what I could hear, it sounds like a pretty good show. Trey and Fish are on fire! ...pun intended...

So, that being said, I agree that this is a one star recording, and only super hard core fans will listen to this. I would bump that up to two stars because the band rocked so hard and we don't know what the first set was like. But the only reason I'm going to give a third star is purely for the Harpua! I love a good Harpua story.
