Sat. 4/16 is Record Store Day...

SAT. 4/16 IS RECORD STORE DAY...

...and Phish (JEMP Records) is releasing "Two Soundchecks", the band's first-ever live vinyl release - a limited edition (2000 hand numbered) 7-inch, vinyl record.

The A-Side is an instrumental jam from the last night of Phish's three day stand at the Greek Theatre in Berkeley, CA during last year's summer tour, and the B-Side is an especially exotic soundcheck from Hartford, CT in 2009.

Also, Mike is releasing his 2002 solo album "Inside In" on vinyl as well.

Just came home from Pure Pop Records in Burlington. Fortunately was only waiting in line for 15 minutes and my number was called.
This was well worth the wait with Side A about as 97/Cypress post-midnight-esque as they come. From the second the needle grabs this album your speakers will fill up with every reason why you love this band!

Went to Princeton Record Exchange in NJ and it sold out two people in front of me. Seriously upset. Drove like almost an hour fifteen just to pick it up. Now they're going for over $70 on ebay.

If someone buys and sells this thing they aren't a fan! Not only is side A great but side be reminds me a bit of the Siket Disc. What has become of the Phans that we have people preying on the innocent desires of loyal and critical historians of the best band in the world?

Record Store Day should be called Record Store First Five Seconds from now on. I waited in line at a Newbury Comics in a suburb of Mass. I got there at 9:30am, store opened at 10:00. Already the line was 15-20 people deep. Once the doors opened, the first three people in line (all were together) rushed in and grabbed one of each record released limited for the day. They didn't even look, or browse, they just grabbed. I knew that their purchases would be on ebay within the hour.

The Soundchecks (the two the store had) were gone by the time I walked in, along with everything else. I was about to grab the Nirvana release to sell on ebay because that's what my melt was telling me to do, but decided to just leave pissed off.

On a side note: Can these "Ebay Stores," and I mean the actual record stores w/ a location and building with an ebay account, be selling the Soundchecks on ebay? That can't be legal, can it?

After waiting in line at a Denver record store for an hour, I managed to get through the zoo of people and snag one up. I plan on framing it and hanging it up on my wall for years to come and hopefully, by some magical way, getting it signed. I haven't even opened it yet and probably never will. This is a rare piece of Phishtory!

I am very happy that I was able to snag one of these up!

Record #1863 is the best one I've been told...
