Review by Miguelito

Miguelito Another show in my attempt to highlight some underrated or under-appreciated shows. This is a good show but doesn't live up to the standards set by its brethren from this tour which offered up some stunning, exploratory jams.

Fee is a fun, relatively unexpected opener. Rift follows. This song and all of the songs on that album will always have a special place in my heart as that is when I really fell I love with the band. This is a great, high energy version. The Stash that follows is another high energy, tight version but fails to break any new ground. The rest of the first set is more of the same, which is to say that it's all very good, late fall '94 Phish.

Opening set II, this Simple made its way onto A Live One. I question the choice, unless the band was seeking a concise version that wasn't connected to any other song. And that's what we get here - a stand-alone version that winds up being rather nondescript. Moving on, we get some more very well-played material including a Maze that hits a nice peak and a tight, very well-played Guyute. The rest isn't particularly noteworthy, which is a shame since the setlist holds such potential. Sometimes these last shows of a tour feel like the band is just checking off a list, and with short, but strong, versions of Mike's, 'Paug, and Slave, that's how it feels here too.

The Chalk Dust Reprise is a fun diversion with crew acknowledgements before we get to GTBT for the end of the show and tour.

Overall this is a decent show. Not mind-blowing, but well-played with few real highlights. I'd rate it a 3/5.

hansokolow My very first Phish show. It's a nice little hall, this place. I also saw Beck play there around this time, which was a great show. My general memory is just that this band was so fast. I was used to dancing through long slow sections at Grateful Dead shows, and this was just go, go, go. It wore out my little 23-year-old self. And I loved it. So much energy.

I also remember that this is one of those places where they put a temporary floor down over the seats, so it bowed in a bit under the crowd. There were certain sections when everyone was pogo-ing, and the floor was really bouncy. In my memory, that happened during Bouncing Around the Room, but it looks like they didn't play that, so it must have been somewhere else. Probably Maze.

Why Don't We Do It in the Road was really funny, as I recall. And I clearly remember the CDT Reprise (first ever!), when Trey thanked 1,000 people by name. The Simple is great, but it probably only made it on the album because it's short and sweet and stands alone. Also, I have no memory at all of DMB opening.

I didn't realize it, but this was the last show of the era of the super-tour. Maybe it should be called Phish 0.5.

Review by MrPalmers1000DollarQ

MrPalmers1000DollarQ Pretty solid tour closer. Really love the fact that the band didn't entirely abandon CDT Reprise but it remains such an elusive rarity. Set 1 features an exciting, rhythmic, and droning Stash, as well as a another ripper Divided Sky characteristic of '94. Set 2 kicks off with the familiar ALO Simple, and we later get a fairly exploratory Mike's Groove. The Mike's jam has some of the same flavors of improvisation present in many of the summer '93 versions, spending some time really breaking down and even transitioning back to F# from the F drop. Trey's Weekapaug solo starts off with some uplifting playing and the band takes the Type I jamming to the edge a few times before things eventually die down to a moment for Page to go solo on the clav, when he takes the opportunity to head into HYHU. Great choice in a callback tune to the band's first Halloween, too.
