Review by yam_ekaj

yam_ekaj great show. Hood opener was a treat and a very well-executed version. Gin absolutely ripped and feature the cool Tequila jam. On Your Way Down was an epic bustout (although I must admit that I didn't recognize it, smh).

second set began with absolute fire. No Men's set the table and WGTYM once again delivered the goods. absolutely epic version highlighted by two distinct sections, one featuring a Trey bendy lick and the other centered around a riff akin to the Izabella intro. as the jam settled down they must've discussed the next song in the in-ear-monitors because they absolutely slammed into Crosseyed with basically no lead up or warning. awesome awesome version, featuring a very cool moment when Kuroda arranged his lights to look like the Chicago Bulls logo.

i must say, the fourth quarter of this show is not particularly strong. Farmhouse was a bit plodding and killed some momentum, Light contained some interesting jamming at first, but then they seemed to get a bit disconnected. rather than soldiering on, Trey instead went into Number Line, which was a serviceable version but still a bit disappointing as a song choice. Cavern, however, is never disappointing and was a fitting cap on a set that contained some incredibly high highs.

i want to briefly take the opportunity to shout out Mike who has really honed the tone on the Serek this tour; during the improvisational highlights of this show (WGTYM of course and, in my opinion, set 1's Gin), his playing was incredible and really drove a lot of the best moments to my ears.

overall a very awesome phish concert. the WGTYM is a must-listen, truly outstanding jam.

Review by Skyball_Ghost

Skyball_Ghost What better way to celebrate my 44th show than with a palindrome show, with an ending song as the opener, and an opener as the ending. Opening with a classic set closer, Harry Hood was the right choice to start another beautiful Chicago weekend with my favorite boys on the planet. The songs melted into one another in a seamless end of surprise, going harder and harder with each song, deeper and deeper right from the start. While we didn’t get Jesus Just Left Chicago in Chicago, they certainly made up for it with On Your Way Down. A solid first set ending with Character Zero left me in a daze. Second set was an absolute mind bending experience and I’m still trying to locate my brain after a phenomenal 28 minute What’s Going Through Your Mind. Others may find parts cheesy, but I find the lyrics and melody speak to a part of Trey’s soul that gives us just a little glimpse into his unraveling and storytelling that’s become more passionate and connected through the 4.0 emergence. Once again Trey busts out some Talking Heads which he always seems to feel when he’s in Chicago. Cavern took the second set to an ending that left many of us wondering what had just happened. Again and again, the show is the best show I’ve ever seen. How do they keep doing this? Three song encore with The Horse and Silent in the Morning was like a warm fuzzy blanket reminding me I didn’t want this to end. A solid opener to close the show, 46 Days may not be my favorite jam, but somehow always takes my heart to a wonderful place. What a privilege to be a part of this community and experience this band again and again. On to celebrate my 45th show tonight and I don’t think I even know what to expect. Thank you so very much Phish!

Review by 90MinuteJam

90MinuteJam What's going through your bass, bass, bass, bass, bass, bass, bass, bass, bass, bass, bass.

I've been thinking about how great Mike sounds all tour and what he's been throwing down, but haven't had the chance to get it down on internet paper. Solid review by Yam_Ekaj, that review has the show details and just wanted to echo the comments about Mike and the rig... Mike's powerful, spot on sound, has been great this tour. Don't get me wrong, all the boys are bringing it, but Mike is that guy with the new Haircut each show, ya just can't help but notice him.
