HarborSeal I was comparing the 11/24/91 YEM with the one played a week earlier, on 11/16/91. Here, per the .net review archive, is what @Icculus said about the 11/16/91 YEM (twenty years ago this month!), with his characteristic eloquence and, um, argumentative charity:

"Anyone who doubts that this is the best pre-93 YEM should have their ears hacked off with a rusty spoon. This YEM has greater intensity than many YEMs after 1991, if not most."

Listening again to 11/16/91, it is a magnificent version, something every fan should hear at some point. I'm not sure the 11/24 version is better...but it's close, and I gotta say, anyone who prefers it should be permitted to keep their ears.

(PS: It's a testament to the value of those reviews that I'm still nitpicking them decades later. They're a huge part of what helped me get into Phish, and the forebears of the wonderful jam charts that have helped me discover so many great versions of so many songs...and where, by the way, the 11/24/91 YEM should be given a spot, stat.)
