History

At shows in the ‘80s and early ‘90s, a Burlington band known as the “Ninja Custodian” would routinely play their original, “Funky (Breakdown),” often accompanied by insects on a projection screen. During Phish’s show at Ian’s Farm on 5/28/89, “Mike and Magoo Ninja” – from the “where are they now” category – were invited by Trey to the stage. The ensuing, memorable “Funky (Breakdown)” -> “The Price of Love” (with vacuum, trombone, keyboards, bass, drums, percussion and guitar) continues to amuse fans to this day.
