History

The "Band/Crew Football Theme Song” has only been played live twice, on 4/16/91 and 5/2/92. Generally it was a soundcheck jam meant to taunt the crew. According to Trey, the band and crew used to play each other in football while on the road. Although the band could never dominate on the field, they could overcome their opponents by creating theme songs. In its two public appearances, the song has started with the band football theme, followed by the crew football theme. This pattern repeats a number of times before the band abandons the song. The difference between the two themes is that the band’s theme is comprised of hard rockin’ power chords and strong, often screaming vocals; the crew’s theme has a much more lilting melody and the song is sung in a quiet, falsetto voice. This “song” is of course just another in a long line of inside jokes that made it onto the stage.
