The first set was Trey solo acoustic and the second set was electric TAB. Kissed by Mist was dedicated to Julia Butterfly Hill. Trey played along with the audience during Possum, picking up a drink while the crowd sustained the chorus. Billy Breathes was performed on piano. During Mozambique Trey introduced the band, and then himself as the “Bad Lieutenant.”

This show was part of the "TAB - The Trio"

NightSpeaks Good show that doesn't stand out too much. Gotta Jibboo is underwhelming compared to the previous night's version. Sand is a good version and definitely the highlight of the night. Trey's keyboard playing from this show is better to my ears than all of the other keyboard stuff of '99 up to this point. This is the last time TAB ever played Bell Bottom Blues. ;) Last version of Come On (Part One) as well but I'm not too sad about that one.

markah I don't know if I can type enough words to make this count as an actual "review" on phish net but I came here to say that the ALBANY SAND from this show still - 23 years later - stands out in my mind as one of the highlights of my concert-going career. I was on the floor of the Palace that night and just remember dancing blissfully as Trey tore open the fabric of spacetime and tapped into the source. This was IT, baby.

Review by fhqwhgads

fhqwhgads I love going back to this tour, now that we've reached the 20th anniversary of the 8-Foot Fluorescent Tubes (which would become the Trey Anastasio Band.) The acoustic set is beautiful of course, with a particularly interesting version of Billy Breathes by Trey solo on piano, and several then-new songs on acoustic guitar. The electric set has plenty of energy as well as good song selection. I'd agree with the other reviewer that maybe nothing stands out too far, but the highlight for me is probably Mozambique. Trey isn't all that chatty during the acoustic part of the show (I think you can find other shows from this May '99 tour that feature more banter) but the dedication to Julia Butterfly Hill is touching and the insight into his and Tom's authorship of some of the other songs is nice.
