By request, extensive teasing of Iron Man preceded La Grange. The YEM vocal jam was based on the word “down” and contained teases of When the Levee Breaks. BBFCFM contained teases of the Flintstones theme and London Bridge Is Falling Down. This show is full of stage banter throughout, focused on the Dance Contest that took place during BBFCFM and Swing Low, “Art Funk” and “Foul, Reek and Fecal.” “Spunky Billington” (Ninja Mike) & Magoo from Ninja Custodian won the seemingly rigged dance contest and received the grand prize of Phish T-Shirts and a $20 bill. The listing for the third set may be incomplete. Some copies of this show in circulation are mislabeled as 6/18/88.

This show has a decent SBD recording. Unfortunately Trey is a little low in the mix but over all it sounds good. The show itself is pretty standard fare for the time. Highlights include Curtain With, an inspired Golgi with an extended intro, Antelope (inspired Marco section) and Mike’s Song. The most notable moment comes during the Mike’s jam. Loose and improvisational for the time albeit short. The jam starts out sounding like it’s about to segue into DEG but doesn’t. Somewhat reminiscent of earlier versions of Mike’s.

There's a reason this show has no reviews until now. It's about as standard as standard comes. If you've heard any other show from 1988, you've basically heard 6-19-88 already. There's not much of interest here, unless you want to hear the rare "I Know A Little" or an early "Contact", although 5-24-88 and 6-15-88 respectively are better versions anyway.
The single highlight is a very crisply played "Swing Low, Sweet Chariot", although if you're a Big Leg Emma fan, there's certainly no reason to miss this solid version.
Everything else is kind of a disappointment; the "La Grange" is short, "The Curtain With" is somewhat sloppy, "Antelope" doesn't have a lot going on, and the "Art Funk" references aren't that amusing or worth hearing. Sadly, the YEM is missing from the Phishtracks tape of the show, so I'll never know if it was any good.

The Curtain With is a treat, I love Page's keys in it and it's a great example of how different (in a good way) a song can sound in it's early incarnation. I also enjoy Big Leg Emma, Trey does a really good job singing this one. YEM isn't on the tape so who knows what goodness is in it.
Cities is great. The contrast between BBFCFM and Swing Low Sweet Chariot is awesome, and Trey's banter about them being in the same vein makes it rather humorous. Antelope is also especially strong.
I know a little is a nice little rockabilly tune, you can really hear Trey hitting those notes as his tone is much more primitive at this time. Corinna is solid. And McGrupp may be one of the single strongest affairs of the show.
Extra slow Jesus Left Chicago to end the show.
