Review by thelot

thelot We’re very fortunate to have some nicely shot footage for this show! I didn’t start for another three years, so it’s such a treat to be able to see where they were at with their production at this point. The SBD mix is very clean. I wish there was more room mixed in, but you can’t have it all.

The first set is videotaped from the FOH position. The evening starts off with a strong pairing of Possum and Gin. The Sky that follows is absolutely perfect! Beautiful version! This transitions right into Sloth. The band is thrown off a little by the transition but quickly finds their footing without a hiccup. Bouncin’ was placed perfectly and provided a nice cool down. YEM was fantastic with a cool “The Ocean” teasing during the vocal jam. Golgi wraps up a fine first half.

The person videotaping the performance moves up to the FOB/DFC for set 2, providing a totally different feel and some nice close-ups.
An exquisite version of Reba starts of set 2. The band is in great spirits for Oh Kee Pah. Mike is all smiles! This transitions into an electric version of Bag. Squirming Coil offers a nice cool down. The Hood to follow is fantastic but does have a minor miscue when they transition into “You can feel good about Hood”. They’ve been doing Carolina pretty much every night since Hanover. It was really cool to see footage of Trey and Page sharing Trey’s mic and Fish and Cactus sharing Mike’s mic. For the record I think Bowie would have been a much better encore choice. When they segued into Mike’s I figured it was just hi-hat hijinx teasing but nope, they totally switched gears into a Mike’s Groove closer. Solid version with a rock solid Weekapaug to close things out. Trey quotes the Star Trek line again “Live long and prosper” that was quoted numerous times at The Paradise show on 12/1/89. Great show tonight!
