Review by gingerphish

gingerphish I might even like this show better than last night. While there was no crazy, groundbreaking set 1 jams like last night's Ghost, the energy and flow throughout the first set was incredible. CDT didn't break very far, but had an interesting jam as did Wolfman's. Lengthwise was a nice treat into a ripping Maze. Waiting All Night fit well in this spot and then a killer Divided Sky followed by Zero to close us out. Definitely above average first set even for this year.

Second set was just over the top. Crosseyed and Painless got everything off to a fine start, but it's really the Soul Planet and Piper that make this show one of the highlights of the tour. This Soul Planet might be the best played and given what happened in San Fran, that's saying a lot. Just pure bliss and energy coming out of this song. Hate on the lyrics all you want, but this song is inspiring Phish to reach for new and interesting spaces they might not have reached. Also, the written part isn't really that bad and doesn't last as long as other songs where I'd like to skip right to the jam (*cough Fuego). ASIHTOS didn't last for too long, but was interesting and didn't slow down the set at all. The Piper was another highlight. Incredible jam. Possum and Slave both bring the heat as well. I see last night getting a lot of love, but I feel that this show was just as good, if not better. A gem in a summer full of highlights.
