Watered down '94 Phish

This show feels like a slightly toned down version of a lot of shows that surround it. Not much exploration and very little risk. Hey that's fine! There's still some great stuff.

The 1st set starts off with a great selection of songs. All of which are pretty average. The first noteworthy song IMO is Jesus Left Chicago, every time they play it it's fantastic and this is no slouch. Stash is it's typical strong self and gets very weird. Besides that nothing else actually stands out besides the great song selection.

The 2nd set has a kind of odd flow to it. They don't really do anything dramatically different than usual, it just doesn't feel as streamlined or consistent as other 2nd sets. Curtain thru Poor Heart has this weird stop and go feel that works for a 1st set but is odd in the 2nd. Mike's is far too quick. But the segue into Simple is great and simple on it's own is pretty strong. The highlight of the show is Weekapaug, it's solid but also incredibly wacky. It seems at times that it may have gone a little for far off the rail, but keeps coming back in time. The Phishgrass section is solid as is the Antelope that follows.

Although somewhat sloppy Back in the U.S.S.R. is a fun encore and a nice reminder of the whole slew of new songs in their arsenal gained from Halloween a little over a month before.

Overall not a completely memorable show from this month and year. But still some good stuff to cherry pick.
