Review by DollarBill

DollarBill Well, here I am finally at my very first show! Well, half show anyway. I went home for the Summer after my second year of college and hooked up with some friends from high school. We got tix to see Santana. Found my ticket stub, $7.50 plus $2.50 service charge for a grand total of ten bucks for Phish and Santana! Wow, times have changed. Lollapalooza had just been through town two days earlier and turned the lawn into a mud pit. So, lucky for us the lawn was closed and we had to all move into the pavillion. Oh damn it, I hate it when that happens. So we ended up in the very last row of seats in the pavillion dead center sitting up on the backs of our chairs.

I don't remember too much about the songs. Like the a cappella Suzy opener but, I do remember Trey ripping through Chalk Dust. I don't remember too much about Bouncing or the Oh Kee Pa Ceremony but, there is a guy who posted video on YouTube of Uncle Pen through GTBT. From what I can hear they were good versions of all three: Pen, YEM, and GTBT. Lots of dancing around from Trey and Mike. You can't really see Page at all in the videos. I did get to see them come out later and jam with Santana's band. Very cool.

The moral of the story is: I'm sure glad I went. I still love them to this day. Just paid $50 for FRONT ROW at Blossom last Summer. It's been a long time since I'd seen them that close. I will probably pay $60 this Summer to see them again. I haven't missed a Blossom performance yet and I don't plan to! Special thanks to Santana for introducing me to them.
