HarborSeal @McGrupp81 Nah, I had the theme. Here's what I did--maybe it'll be helpful if I spell this out for those who find MJs daunting.

I started, as I do every week, by giving all the clips a quick listen. I try to find something I can latch onto. Sometimes I know one of the jams straightaway, but that's rare. If I don't, I try to find something--a song, or, more typically, a tour or at least an era from which I think the clip must be taken. If I don't have anything, I go back to work and wait for the hint.

This week, I was pretty sure the first clip was from a Mike's jam--I don't know of any case in which the band's played a Mike's jam out of another song--and, based on Trey's screeching guitar and the demented (I use that in the good sense of the word) vocalizations, I was thought it was probably from 94. I started out with the October versions, which I remembered as being especially fiery. When I didn't find the clip there, I checked some from November 94, and then I noticed it was the anniversary of the OJ show. I tried that too--very close, but no dice. Then I started checking other June 94 versions, and bam, there it was in the Utah show.

I looked over the setlist from the show, didn't see anything that jumped out, and guessed the theme probably had to do with either the date of the show, or the location. I thought the second clip was from the late 90s / early 2000s--99 was my first guess, actually--and for the last, I thought it was 93 (nope, but I caught that later). There were no shows on 6/9 in 93 or any time from 97-04, so I figured location was a better bet, and started looking at Utah shows.

I checked out 8/21/93. I was convinced the last clip was from 93, and did a lot of hunting around on that show, but came up empty. Eventually, I gave up on that, but figured it still had to be from the early 90s. Tweezer's the big jam from the 6/8/95 show, and I found the clip fairly quickly after that.

At that point, the theme was clear, and there weren't that many Utah shows to choose from. I checked 11/2/98--some monster jams in that show, but nuthin' doin'. Next up was 7/15/03. I listened to a lot of that fantastic Mr. Completely....the clip wasn't there, but that was some good listening. I remembered that there were some jams in unexpected places in '03. I saw the 7+ minute Spread It Round, and bam, there it was. Had all three clips, and managed to get the answer posted just before an appointment.

Anyway, thanks for the contest, @wforwumbo! Great fun.
