Heh, the subtler part of the hint that I didn't mention, and the reason I chose peyote cactus, is that Mike's Song was called "Microdot" for a while – you can hear Trey call it "Microdot" before / after mid-80s renditions. While in the 70s there were claims that the purple microdots going around were pressed mescaline, they were actually likely just highly concentrated LSD. (Considering that the microdots weighed about 10 mg, while in order to get a mescaline high, one needs to typically consume upwards of 400 mg).
