Just to clarify, even though it is kinda stated already, this is not a list of THE BEST JAMS OF SUMMER. It's a list of jams from summer that some of us wanted to write about. That said, they are all great jams and it makes me feel so awesome about the current state of Phish that there is so much to talk about right now.

If you have one you love that we missed, it would be awesome to put a recap in a comment here, that way this post can be a central source for awesome 2014 summer jam reviews.
Indeed. For me, and it's been mentioned already, Portsmouth2 really did it for me this tour in terms of a SET of music, and I like how several contributors here tie in the connections/segues to their choices, as that was an important theme. This, as opposed to just singularly extracting a particular jam out of its context.

The two most significant MOMENTS for me, in terms of individual jams or versions, were the Mansfield Hood and the Randall's Gin. The Gin, not for its individual brilliance, but because I felt it was 2003 all over again and the knowledge that the song was still relevant and viable as having that sort of potential.

This theme is represented throughout this piece of writing, as Wombat, Wedge, Meatstick and even Simple get high marks for GOING THERE, regardless of anything else. I'm not speaking of novelty either, but rather potential......it lets us know that the boys are still dangerous and that, as @johnnyd has already alluded to, IT can happen at any time.
