I just wish people would stop using the word "ripcord."
One of the reasons I like it is because it's a word that our community created to fulfill a descriptive/analytical need. We've done this time and time again, we've created an entire vocabulary particularly suited to our needs in describing this extremely unique music. Type I/II jams, "plinko" (which I dislike, FWIW), whale, 1.0/2.0/3.0, ripcord - all these have become implicitly agreed upon parts of our discursive practice of talking about Phish.
