CaptainPookie Your comment is not appreciated by me nor do I think it's remotely funny. @TheEmu is the champion on this site when it comes to snarky, pissy, negative comments, including his lonely and whiney contribution to this thread.

I was constructive in my criticism and tried to end on a positive note but you guys won't have it.

It would be nice if you all would stop circling the wagons around each other like a juvenile high school clique every time someone gets their toes stepped on.

I love this site and try to be positive most all of the time. Only a couple of people in this thread have been nasty in their comments, most everyone else was simply giving honest feedback. There's no need to escalate the dialogue by getting all defensive.

The reviewer took a different approach. I respect that. It was also a risk. Many people, myself included, have come to look forward to the regularly excellent commentary and perspective that comes from the admin. team, and I appreciate all of you for it, but you folks are waaaaay too sensitive at times and this is one of them.

There's nothing nasty or thankless about expecting some musical analysis when we come to this blog to read a recap. You've set the standard for it, and people have come to expect it. When it doesn't happen, you need to know that they'll be some dissappointed folks.

@FACTSAREUSELESS

First of all, @johnnyd 's comment that you disapprove of wasn't directed at you. It was directed at the simpleton who felt it necessary to actually create an account to come on an insult someone in a community that he has - by his own admission - contributed absolutely nothing to, ever. So considering that, getting a sarcastic reaction from someone who has dedicated countless hours to this community is appropriate.

Additionally, the fact that you are offended and don't find it remotely funny is 100 fucking percent irrelevant, seeing that it had nothing to do with you. It had to do with a lurker-nobody throwing around childish insults.

But really what is the big knee-slapper here is how you accuse people of circling their wagons and getting all defensive when someone gets their toes stepped on - after countless childish comments from people circling their wagons and getting all accusatory and defensive when someone doesn't write a recap - a personal experience of a show - and they don't do it in the way that you think they should. Hypocrisy is a bore. You can do better than that. Who the fuck cares how people think it should be written? When sitting down to express yourself and write something - anything do you sweat about how many people will approve of the path you chose? Becasue unless you're doing it for a college course or for someone who signs your paychecks, I fucking hope not. Sometimes people use creative license when recounting creative experiences.

Sorry to explode everyone's unrealistic expectations, but no one owes you a recounting of a show to your specifications.

Having said that, would *I* have preferred a little more meat in the bits about the performance itself? Yes, I would have.

But it also requires NO effort or secret levels of understanding to be able to discern that the author was absolutely over the moon about his show experience. And it seems that anyone having read it could very easily understand that "hey, this show really affected this guy in a positive way. I'm gonna go listen and see for myself." Instead of being spoon-fed a minute-by-minute spoiler of the whole show.

But no, instead just a bunch of pissy, self-righteous bullshit instead.

@johnnyd - sorry to contribute to the hostility in this thread. There's far too much arrogant, rude and childish condescension from people on .net anymore and it reminds me of why I faded away from this place a few years ago.
