This kind of comment makes me sad. Hoping for the (instant) end of an band-audience gag (no matter how simplistic or corny or nonsensical) betrays the fundamental spirit of phish.

I heard some fans making comments of this nature at the shows, and did my best to rebut it. Rejecting the "woos" (really, a minor part of the show, no matter how much they might happen) smacks of headier-than-thou jaded vet elitism....at least to this occasionally-jaded-but-not-in-this-case vet.
