Doktahgonzo Great read (didn't quite finish but wanted to toss in .02)

I love my AUDs so much. I got into XLII trading in high school, and while the quality was nothing like what we have now - it was all we had and we still loved the shit out of it. CD burners weren't even commonplace really yet. I find it interesting how technology for us as a listening audience has only more recently caught up to what the tapers were capturing all along, in terms of both the quality and accessibility/distribution.

Tapers are literally Phish's backbone. If they were a corporation, they should have given them all a ton of shares years ago, for all that they've done for the band.
