The golden tones of this Smashing Pumpkins song crackle over a set of speakers like a waking dream, and Phish somehow captured these qualities quite well in their performance of the tune on 8/3/98 at Deer Creek. This song also produced an interesting reaction at its debut. The portion of the crowd that was familiar with the Pumpkins’ early, minor, alternative-rock hit cheered, and the rest of the crowd asked the portion of the crowd that had just cheered what the hell song it was.

I think this cover is echoed in what would eventually become Bug, even more so than when I first heard Birds at Island Tour and said, "Well, we'll probably never hear Crosseyed & Painless again now."
