History

This easy, up-tempo classic rock staple was apparently pulled together for the band’s first gig. We assume that vocals were provided by Trey, though it may have been Jeff; no doubt, neither could match the wails of Tina Turner’s popular cover version. A full-length a cappella version emerged from the “YEM” vocal jam on 3/1/03 in Greensboro, almost eleven years after pieces of the “Proud Mary” lyrics surfaced during another vocal jam in L.A. on 4/15/92. Following up on their once-a-decade rotation, "Proud Mary" again surfaced in the "YEM" vocal jam on 7/2/10 that also included extended quotes of The Beatles' "Get Back."
