Antelope included a brief jam on Pink Floyd’s Money and a tease of Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy by Page. Chalk Dust contained Money and Lazy (Deep Purple) teases from Trey. Ya Mar contained a Can’t Turn You Loose tease from Page and funny stage banter as Trey tried to bring “Leo” in too early. Sanity was teased in Reba. Hydrogen included a tease of Jingle Jangle Jingle, with a bassline somewhat akin to Happy Trails. Weekapaug included the theme from Bonanza and Can’t You Hear Me Knocking teases from Page. Fish dedicated Terrapin to his friends from Burlington who made the trip to see the band. Makisupa was played for the first time since November 26, 1990 (322 shows). DollarBill After a day off the boys continue their journey through Canada. This is the second and last show at Le Spectrum in a little over four months and from what I remember, the other show was better than this one. There are some good songs in there and lots of fun teases, but overall they are just not there tonight, if you like precision playing. The sound wasn’t bad, just the usual tweaks from Paul and some monitor feedback most notably in Antelope. Pretty decent recording as well, though I added some high-end to make the cymbals pop out a bit more.

Melt opener? Strange, but they do pretty well until a rough bridge part and some sound tweaks at the end. Pen was good, the Sloth was a bit rusty, and Jim was good, but off at little at the end. Horn was also rusty sounding before an absolutely ripping Llama. I expect no less from that one. Glide was good, Rift is getting there, but still a bit rushed in the timing and not fully locked in. Fee was good, and of course the crowd got a kick out of the Quebec line. Antelope had some feedback, but fun teases and a great jam to wrap up this average set.

Chalk Dust rocks the opener spot with no real problems. Ice was pretty average for this tour. Ya Mar has been recently put back into rotation and Trey really throws this one off in the middle. It never quite rebounded, but you do get some funny Mike screams at the end. Continuing with the Mike sound, we get an average Mound and then the Balls come out… Which means, according to official protocol we have a heavily composed song coming up which is Reba. Stay as far away from this one as you can, I warned you. About thirty seconds in Trey must have broken a string or something because the next five or so minutes are a hellish soundscape of bad notes. I believe the band is aware of this, but there is nothing they can do until Trey can pick up another guitar, which it sounds like he does before the end solo. Mike's was pretty good with some kind of teases in the jam and it sounds like the Simple lick is evolving further. Hydrogen wasn’t all that bad tonight, complete with old west teases. Weekapaug rocked and also had lots of teases and dynamics going on including a huge bust-out of Makisupa Policeman! After all that, HYHU brings Fish out for a funny dedication of Terrapin to everyone. Trey had a rough time in the middle of Coil making it really sub-par, so Page is left to clean up the mess of tonight’s fun, but disastrous second set.

Noooooooooo! There is no recording of the My Friend encore!!! What a bummer, I love that song and I don’t think it’s ever been the encore before. Oh well, Adeline is missing as well, but I’m sure it was fine.

I really don’t think the overall show deserves four stars, but I feel obligated to bump it up to four because of the Makisupa bust-out. A very reluctant four stars…
