The 2017 Jam of the Year tournament starts today! This is an annual forum tradition in which we sort 64 of the hottest jams from the previous year into a single-elimination bracket. Each week, we pit jams against each other in one-on-one matchups and, as a forum member, you get to vote on which jam you prefer out of each matchup. The jam with more votes moves on to the next round — and we keep going until we have a winner! We encourage you to join the conversation about which jams you want to vote for — the more voices, the merrier.

Even though the name of the tournament suggests that this is all about picking a best jam, that’s not really why we do it. Instead, we’re trying to connect more deeply with the music, figure out what we like and why we like it, and build community by sharing what we love. The conversation, rather than the voting, is really why we’re here. Please note that comments posted on the blog won’t count as votes. Votes only count in the forum thread.

We hope you’ll join us. Happy listening!

If you liked this blog post, one way you could "like" it is to make a donation to The Mockingbird Foundation, the sponsor of Support music education for children, and you just might change the world.

maxhog Is a "best shows of 2017" post coming? I loved the ones from 13-15 and was bummed when one didn't happen last year.
