Welcome to part 151 of's Mystery Jam Monday. Once again, be the first person to identify the song and date of the mystery jam clip and win one MP3 download courtesy of our friends at / Nugs.Net. Each person gets one guess per day, with the second “day” starting after I post the hint. A hint will be posted on Tuesday if necessary, with the answer to follow on Wednesday.

Answer: By, er, discerning this week's Mystery Jam (the 7/8/03 Discern -- played ten years ago to the day it was posted), @mainegabe wins this week's MP3 download. Great job!

See you all next week for number 152.

I was thinking along those lines as well (late 1.0 big Jim), but I don't think that's it. It could also be something newer... there's just enough whammy but there's also heavy delay -- tough one!

ucpete Am I the last one to discern that this week's MJM is from 10 years ago today? I thought to myself "I wonder if @bl002e will pick a July 4th jam this week?" and even checked a few 7/3-7/5 shows. I don't know why it didn't occur to me that it'd be from a July 8th show. Just in case this is some kind of dirty trick, I'll officially make my guess:

7/18/03 Discern

P.S. All five of the Discerns in my music library are full of "whale calling". Very sneaky, and I don't recall complaining 10 years ago. Great MJM, and good on @gperk for figuring it out so quickly.

gperk I knew this immediately. Discern for me and a group of friends back in AZ is a song we always liked for its dark tones and image filled lyrics. We played the TAB versions (SF 02 and the sneaky Discern horn intro from the 10/24/02 Drifting) over and over and kept hope that Phish would play it. Which they did in Chula Vista and the whole crew was there. Great memories thanks to MMJ.
