This show, officially released as Live Phish 19, featured The Giant Country Horns for all songs except Reba, Rocky Top, Golgi, The Squirming Coil, My Sweet One, Hydrogen, both HYHUs, Oh Kee Pa, Adeline, and Fee. It also marked the first Phish performance of Moose the Mooche, which contained a tease of Rhythm-A-Ning from Trey. Trey also teased the Woody Woodpecker theme before Golgi. During the band intros before Donna Lee, Page and Russ teased Killer Joe during Russ's introduction. Prior to Touch Me, Fish was introduced as the Lizard Queen. Touch Me featured Fish on trombone. Sweet Adeline was performed without microphones.
Being from Keene this was a especially fun show. Only problem was I got locked up at a party that the band was at on water st. Also hung with the band at Tolman pond before the show & the day after the show. Things were a lot mellower back then that's for sure. Was a great show except for the lock up although I did get out pretty quickly. The cops didn't like that I wouldn't put my beer down since I was 21 at the time so I figured I didn't need to put my bee down but the cops thought different & threw me into the back of a cruiser. The good ol days. Haven't seen Phish since 92. Once you have seen a band in small bars & venues it just isn't the same going to big arena's. They came a long way from the old days though thats for sure.

This show definitely belongs in every phans phish collection. The Giant Country Horns add a unique flavor to this show that is quite enjoyable.
This show definitely belongs in every phans phish collection. The Giant Country Horns add a unique flavor to this show that is quite enjoyable. Sweet Adeline is performed without mics with average shooshing. Ends with the loudest applaud of the night. Next Frankenstein comes to life (only for the 6th time at this point in Phish’s career) and is a fun listen, the horns contributing tentatively. Trey really cranks it for his solo, his tone getting as dirty as ever. Fishman's solo is executed well, and he gives a little extra of his own spin in the middle with some salsa-y fills. Page sticks to the organ for this version. There is a vocal jam in the middle, with splashes of horns, which makes for a unique reading. After the 2nd drum solo, the band caps this one off with excellent energy!

All the better that has a top notch version in the Live Phish 19. I can't believe I didn't hear Fish do Touch Me until now... it's really something special.

Ironically they patch a portion of Weekapaug with the circulating audience recording.

Every once in a while it's fun to return to the summer '91 shows with the Giant Country Horns. Most of my Phish listening focuses on '93 and beyond, as I believe is the case for most Phans. By turning back the clock to earlier shows, we get some great tunes that fell out of regular rotation as well as some that stuck around as staples but sound distinguished this early in the band's development. Throw in the Giant Country Horns with some nice solos and excellent arrangements and you've got yourself a show that stands out from the usual listening.
