this started a great midwest sweep from alpine valley, to deer creek, and finally finish in columbus. there were some really good nights on this run, but a strong arguement can be made for this being the best of the bunch. from start to finish, this was a very good show. good setlist, good music...

The ultimate "Average" show. Listening to this in Full Force this AM.. I forgot what the Energy of MY First Show did to me.

What a great show...I can still remember walking down the hill, to the lower-left, and that opening riff of PYITE came on and it felt like I floated the rest of the way down...I don't think I've ever been that happy...

You won't remember this show for any one standout jam. You'll remember this show for being the puzzling choice for official release as volume 5 of the Live Phish series. There is nothing remarkable about this show.

There is nothing remarkable about this show. Ah, yessss...PYITE is a great opener and, traditionally, a premonition of great things Phish-wise to come. This tenet held true on this beatufiul evening at Alpine Valley! Great NICU, even better My Soul (it seems as if Trey was really feeling the 'blues' this eve; his playing that night suggested a rather Claptonesque vibe) the omni-goofy and fun Poor Heart, a great Wolfman's (although fairly standard-issue) an awesome, awesome (truly psychedelic in the purest sense of the word) First Tube, standard Llama, an appearance from everybody's favorite dancing pig, Guyute, and a humungous Antelope to close the first set.
