2nd night at this new venue. Thank you Coca Cola for selling Coke products in your venue...That was awesome! Chill vibes. Really fun Shakedown I wasn't expecting, and encircled by what looked a war torn city. Somebody outside was yelling Free Palestine. End the war in Gaza. I said, "Homie, look around you, the war is everywhere." Birmingham has historically battled race relations and a crumbling infrastructure, so IT was nice to get inside and feel the bliss rather than think of the reality surrounding us. I think partly due to that, Phish came out and cranked up the intensity for both nights. I half-jokingly stated the night before that Set I was intended for fans of Phish and King Gizzard who are contemplating the future of touring with either band. Phish stamped that set with seal of "We are the best overall!" Anyone who heard that and was thinking of ditching the Phish scene for Gizz put that thought to bed. Don't get me wrong, I'll still go to Gizz shows, but that helped me realize that after 30 years of seeing the boys, I want 30 more solid years with them. Not very likely, but I'll take what I can get. The only thing I really want to say about this show was that prior to the soundcheck where they got with IT in the weirdest way, I was talking to my crew about a young lady I work with who talks about E.T. every time I see her. She is a special young lady with differing abilities, but for some reason I brought her up. That night, as they started with the E.T. phone home quote, which is oddly not even mentioned in the official .net setlist comments, I turned to my buddy of 31 years, we met one year before my first show and said, did they just say what I thought they said?, and he said yes "E.T. phone home." I said, I am still very connected to the band, the psychic bond is strong with them, and I let out a woo of approval. Pretty weird that I mentioned that earlier in the day and then they did that the very same night. That is not even my strangest call. This summer I called the Macarena bust out, and in 2011 I called for an all S set all summer tour, and on my first official day as a Colorado resident, we were rewarded with the S show. So, what does that prove? Phish is the best overall. Prove me wrong. Calmer than you! E.T., phone home!

Tonight was the Yang to last night's Yin.
It’s not often you get to hear such a purposely crafted set list. As the band sang the lyrics to these deliberately selected songs, we heard our current existential crisis described in the first set, whereas the second set presented the solution.
Not to spoil it, but in the end, hope and love prevail. The tyrant was defeated, and freedom won, by who else than Milly Grace.
Exceptional setlist, Trey. Obviously a lot of thought went into these shows, and the work paid off. The people around me all got the message. From the bottom of my heart, thank you.
