Review by DollarBill

DollarBill The third installment of three sets at the Greek opening for Santana. Great soundboard recording again tonight. Some monitor feedback in there might have thrown them off a bit.

Landlady starts off kind of rough as Trey comes in early and then flubs a few parts. So does Mike. Sparkle is pretty normal, maybe a little off at times, but not too bad. Guelah is the highlight tonight. Very well performed. Maze is hit and miss as everyone seems to miss some part individually making the whole song sound disjointed. They even blow the ending because their timing is off. Surprising as Maze is rarely off. Great sounding solo from Page though. Trey sounds a little frustrated as they go into a lackluster Jim. It's a good jam, but the boys just sound kind of tired tonight. They are due for a day off.

All in all, the whole set is a pinch off, or just tired sounding. Guelah is definitely the stand out tonight. I Love the board mix recordings.

Review by jive1twoandlee

jive1twoandlee A nice, single summer set. Good times to be had by all. The third in a line of three opening sets at the Greek Theater. The sound quality here is amazing; soundboard, I believe.

I can't think of many better openers than The Landlady, and they shred this one. Sparkle is a nice cosmic-grass tune to spice up the setlist > a very standard, but well played Guelah Papyrus. Maze is great, Page gives us some excellent organ work. It's short, but it's effective. Runaway Jim is a serviceable closer. Mike throws down some really cool lines all throughout, and is the leading force in the jam section. This Jim may be short, and not very exploratory, but it's very solid, and you can't argue with solidity.

It's a single opening set, you know what you're getting. That being said, this is a very well played set, and it would be good to pop on while doing any fun activity. High energy, no complicated jamming, just good ol' summer fun.
