Review by Damn_that_kinda_sucks

Damn_that_kinda_sucks My third show and a fantastic one to boot. Decided to bring my Mom along for this one as I was visiting my home state of GA. We were nestled in the front most portion of the lawn, known to some as the “moat”. “Why are these guys wearing dresses?” my mother inquired about some folks in the audience before the show began. Queue the band walkout around 7:45 where I pointed out Fishman’s mumu. The boys take stage and bust out a Wolfman’s, an appropriate choice in light of my mom’s confusion regarding Fish and his dress attire. Set 1 was fantastic- Divided Sky coaxed a quite a few tears from myself, Llama and Martian Monster got the whole fam out their seats, and I always love Page’s bouncy riffs on Taste.

Set two ripped me a new asshole. The boys took Carini for a long walk and took everyone along for a transcendental experience as we transitioned into light and back into a “Carini Prise”. The Sand that ensued tore the fucking building down, Mike’s bass groove drove an extended jam that concluded aggressive staccato notes synchronized with flashes of white light from CK5s rig. I really enjoyed the slew of Gamehenge lore I got for the first time at a show- loved the Wilson in Set 1 but Piper and Lizards got the entire Stadium off their feet dancing their butts off and singing those fun storybook lyrics we all love!

For my favorite part of this set i just want to mention that I had been going through a “Meatstick” phase prior to flying out from Colorado and was really anticipating having to chase it for a couple of shows. The band ended up concluding with an ultra funky YEM, jamming out of the vocal section. After a few minutes backstage, they came back out and busted out the Meatstick! I just love that Japanese chorus and the dance is just too much fun!
Boy man, shocks my brain! What a fantastic evening. Thank you so much for putting on such a special and memorable performance for me and my fam!
