For what feels like the first time in a long time on this journey, we have the first night of a two night stand. This show plays very much like a good night one, with a solid first set and a strong set two that leaves you hungry for more. Roggae starts us off on a mellow note but we are quickly treated to a nice Divided Sky to really help us take off. Horse > Silent in the Morning is standard, and then we get another appearance of You Better Believe it Baby... the band almost feels like it might have taken off at the end of this one, but refrains; that's unfortunate as I don't think this cover is ever played again and it felt like there was some potential there. The Boogie On that follows has a jam that is basically an extension and expansion on the main theme, but features some nice work from Fishman and is quite enjoyable. The Reba is pretty great too; the band still has strong command over this tune at this point and it strengthens this first set quite a bit. Weigh and Birds of a Feather close it out.

This second set opens with a very strong Possum that feels very fun; this sets the mood for the whole set. Ghost is fantastic, and while not too out of the ordinary it features strong work from Page and the groove that breaks out around 15 minutes into the jam is hypnotic and brings this version to a spacy landing. Lifeboy is a great landing point for this; always good to hear and seemingly the only real cool down song of this entire show. Even a "standard" Bowie from this time is a wild ride, and this one is no exception. The closing section features a set of fun teases of other Phish songs by Trey that just puts a sly exclamation point on the whole affair. The crowd is just in a frenzy at this point. The I Get a Kick Out of You debut here feels like more silly fun after the teases that ended Bowie. Given all this the Loving Cup closer feels like a perfect fit. Hood plus another song feels like a very generous encore (interesting that they chose to close a show with Bittersweet Motel for a third time), so no complaints there at all.

Overall this was a good show; tough following up that stellar Alpine show with a night one though. This show also lacks a signature jam compared to the three shows that preceded it. Not enough for me to give this tour a major downgrade though. The first set is highlighted by that Boogie On/Reba one two punch and the second set has a lot of good stuff going for it. A strong night one for sure, but not at the level of, say, the first night of the Gorge from earlier in this tour.
