SET 1:

My Friend, My Friend: The ending is creepier and weirder than usual. >

Sparkle: Standard. >

AC/DC Bag: I really like Trey’s playing through the first minute or so of the jam, it’s unique.

The Old Home Place: Standard.

Taste: Easily the best of the first four. Trey tears this one up.

The Wedge: Standard.

Stash[1] Average to above average jam. The first peak though is enormous, like a tidal wave. From there they go into this sizzling pit, and it feels amazing and like they will use this as the launching pad for the final run – but instead they let it simmer and segue into I Didn’t Know. So, a couple of observations here. Incredible segue and so out of left field. But it really does give you blue balls as you are so ready for the second climax aka the death blow and it never arrives. Still, for the first peak and interesting combo with I Didn’t Know, I would recommend this version. ->

I Didn't Know[2] Everyone is on valium? Sounds like it. This is so, so cool. They change the speed and delivery on basically everything and it is quite trippy! Followed by the trombone stuff. Freaks. Would recommend. Super trippy.

Fluffhead: Oh man, to follow up THAT with THIS is fucking awesome! Trey is inspired in the end shred, lots of beautiful notes outside of the ordinary. Would recommend.

Run Like an Antelope: There are basically two peaks on this one. The first is formidable enough. The second will wither the crustiest wook this side of Antelope Grep himself. Absolutely obscene. Easy all timer, and highly, highly recommended.

SET 2:

My Sweet One: Interesting placement. Of the 252 times played, it has only opened the second set ten times. This was the last time it ever opened the second set!

Ha Ha Ha: Standard. >

David Bowie[3] This legendary version holds a special place in my heart. Exceptional theme and jamming that comes to a head in the late 13’s. But by 14:19 it quickly starts deconstructing in a minor chord, uncomfortable manner. Tension y’all. Lots and lots of tension. The intense vocal chanting in the 17’s and the edgy heavy metal that follows in the 18’s would melt the crustiest wook. This just gets fucking nuts. It’s incredible when they bring it back into that Type I realm at 23:19. I would have dance out of my shoes!

Strange Design: Standard. >

Theme From the Bottom: Standard.

Scent of a Mule: Standard.

Acoustic Army: Standard.

Slave to the Traffic Light: Standard.

ENCORE:

Bouncing Around the Room: Standard.

Frankenstein: While listening to this I wondered, does Fishman love playing this?

Summary: Love that first set and Bowie. Very strong show. 4.2/5

Stash was unfinished and melted into I Didn’t Know, which was performed in an eerie, slower fashion and featured Fish on trombone, Mike on electric drill for the first time, and Trey on megaphone. Antelope contained a Voodoo Child tease from Trey. Bowie included some odd chanting, including the phrase “Send me on my way” (although not in a manner similar to the Rusted Root song of the same name).
