Review by spreaditround

spreaditround SET 1: Julius: White hot, crowd eats it up.

Gumbo: Nice and punchy.

Divided Sky: Punch You in the Eye: The perfect one, two punch!

Stash: Some strong tension built up in this one. Great peak in the late 9’s, another at 10:27 and 10:43. From here they ominously take this quietly down a dark and disturbing rabbit hole. It starts getting loud again in the late 11’s with a big wall of sound – then they suddenly jump back into the Maybe So, Maybe Not lyrics. This caught Page off guard I think, they kind of hung him out to dry it seems and he is sloppy at the end.

My Mind's Got a Mind of its Own, Axilla (Part II), The Horse > Silent in the Morning, Hello My Baby: Standard.

While My Guitar Gently Weeps: Very strong, excellent closer. Trey makes that guitar WEEP.

The UMASS Minuteman made the audience chess move!

SET 2: Timber (Jerry the Mule) Intense as always. >

Sparkle: Standard. >

Ya Mar: Missed out on an opportunity to keep the set dark and intense after Timber. Nice staccato playing from Trey late in the Ya Mar jam coupled nicely with Cactus’ support.

Run Like an Antelope: Very interesting intro from Trey, can’t accurately describe what he is doing with his guitar, but it sounds cool. This version RIPS.

Billy Breathes, Cars Trucks Buses: Poor placement.

You Enjoy Myself: Mike's solo section post nirvana is really cool and weird sounding, definitely check it out. Trey’s second shot at the Note is beautiful – awesome sustain! Huge clap along in the 12’s. Oye Como Va not long after the clapping from Trey. Huge peak in the late 15’s, great stuff in there. Very good YEM!

Sample in a Jar: Standard. >

Frankenstein: Page sounds especially prominent and crunchy in the intro.

ENCORE: Bouncing Around the Room, Rocky Top – Throw away encore, oh well.

Summary: Pretty good show here but for December 95 it is certainly in the lower tier of awesomeness. Seek out the Stash, Antelope and YEM, you will be glad you did.
