I was at this show, and it was undoubtedly the best show I've ever been to. By any band. We actually had horrible seats for that first show, or so we thought. They were directly behind the stage, but we actually ended up liking them. Obviously they weren't facing us most of the time, but we were quite close and could see everyone really well. Especially Fish. We did all 3 shows in Worcester that fall, but this one was by far the best, and myself and a friend got to watch the Dude of Life play in a bar across the street the next afternoon, which was cool. We even talked to him for a few minutes during a break.

The second set was just a mind blower though. Pure Phish. Rocking, teasing things left and right, and just clearly having a great time on stage. Buried alive started the second set and is almost certainly the best I've heard. Then Wipeout of course, which influenced the rest of the weekend. Clear wipeout teases during a rocking chalk dust. Mirror in the bathroom was sick, and they drifted in and out of it so effortlessly, you'd think it belonged in the middle of Chalkdust. Buffalo Bill was also nice, and one of the girls we went with had specifically hoped to hear that, so it's always nice when someone gets the song they want.

I've talked about this show ever since seeing it. For us it was the end of an era in many ways. The group I went with was a group that had been going to shows together since 94, and it was the last run we went to as a group. I had dated the same girl all through high school and college, and we had broken up a month or so before this. I saw her the morning of this show right before we hit the road, and haven't seen her again to this day. So this show has always remained strong in my mind for all of these various reasons. Many of us would move in the next few months and drift apart as people do, but what a way to go out. I can clearly picture Trey cranking out Wipeout with a big grin on his face, and I had chills running up my back almost the entire second set. Unlike anything I've ever seen. I've been to a lot of Phish shows, but this will always be the pinnacle in my mind.
