Review by DollarBill

DollarBill Second and last night at the Vic in Chicago. Fifteenth show of Fall tour. A little bit better of a show from last night. Good recording too.

Nice Jim to open the show. Mike is a little off at times, but there is a good jam at the end. Right into a Foam, which also has some rough spots while getting settled in, and a rushed ending. Fee was pretty normal and jammed right into the My Friend intro, which has gotten better with time. Trey blows a bit of the lyrics and the song itself has a weak ending. My Sweet One was good and featured Fish continuing the drum part thinking the big balls might come out, but Trey waves it off and they fade nicely into a sloppy Sloth. Haven't played that one in a while. Coil also has some sloppy moments early on surprisingly from Page, but his solo by the end is good as usual. Llama rips as always. Fluff was ok, but spotty, mostly during Fluff's Travels. Antelope has some funny parts with the signals and all, but it's not quite top notch. Good jam overall, very dynamic and a little spacey.

Suzy makes for a solid opener for second set. Nice Page solo breaks. The Curtain sounded a little rusty even though they just played it a week ago. Nice transition into Stash which has some rough spots, but a nice spacey jam at the end. Paul is the other bluegrass call and concludes with the Big Ball Jam that Fish was looking for earlier. Gin had a way out spacey type jam. They are really starting to push this one towards it's future jammy self. YEM? Good grief, lots of heavy hitters this set. YEM has it's problems early on from Trey, but recovers nicely into the solos and a great vocal jam section featuring words based off of "washing machine". Wow! TMWSIY too? Not bad, a little tentative at first, but pretty good. Avenu is good, as is the TMWSIY outro. Lots of shout outs give way to Fish doing Lengthwise. A funny singalong ensues followed by the shushing of the crowd for a full band Carolina. More shout outs fall on deaf ears as Fish busts into the usual Cavern closer. Well played.

Possum moves to the encore spot tonight complete with the Vibration of Life jam in the middle. Still a good jam.

Not too bad of a show overall. They still seem like they weren't totally happy with what was going on as far as sound, monitors, their ears or something? Not sure. They did, however, push the jams farther out in space tonight.
