Yay! A full length Phish show! After Europe and the HORDE, I was happy to see three full length shows coming up, however it became bittersweet as I listened further. This is an audience recording with a very weird sound to it. Then I looked up and noticed the venue is called the "Boathouse". It definitely sounds like one. Needs more vocals in the mix. The recording also leaves a lot to be desired as the DAT tape has glitches all over it. Most noteably Coil.

Not a bad Landlady to start, just ok. Alright, so the notes say that they soundchecked with Rift over and over again. You would think it would be sweet. Not the case. I'll have to give them somewhat of a pass on this one because they did change the structure of the song. The solo sections have been cut in half and the rest of the middle just sounded off. Terrible Rift. Guelah was ok, not that great. Ok, maybe Maze will save the day again. Nope, just ok. They are not locking in tonight. Even Sparkle sounds a little off. It's Ice was ok. Jim is pretty good. Better than the rest of the set. So, for the fourth show in a row, it sounds like Trey pulled himself out of tune during Jim making Horn sound weird. The awful part is that he doesn't fix it. In Brother it doesn't really matter because it is a dissonant song. In IDK it doesn't matter either because there is no guitar part. Fishman didn't even get a funny name intro. Trey must be frustrated. Poor Heart is ok but needs more vocals. You can't hear Mike very well. Cavern is ok. Good closer but, just ok. Below average set. Please tune the guitar.

Let's have a better second set ok? Nope, Curtain starts off rough and Mike, I think, blows the middle section almost leading to a complete meltdown. Tweezer is ok. It's hard to mess this one up, although Trey pulls himself back out of tune making Fee sound awful. It seems like he fixed it a little because ATR didn't sound that bad. Reba is actually pretty well performed. So is Llama. Coil sounds out of tune again and has so much digi noise from the DAT that it is almost unlistenable. Even Page's solo is lame. Paul and Silas is ok. Pretty quick and painless. Trey has an awful time with YEM and blows his intro part. Still out of tune too. Sounds like a Mind Left Body jam about ten minutes in. The vocal jam is ok. Sounds like Fish is saying "Im a wookie". A-Train is back with Page playing an organ solo instead of piano. I don't know if I've ever heard that. Trey plows into Tweeprise as he probably wants to get out of there. Still below average.

Wow, I hate giving bad reviews, and I love these guys, but this was an awful listening experience. Again, I'll have to give them a pass because a lot of these songs have not been played in two months! The song gap chart shows this clearly. Paul and Trey have got to fix that guitar. I hope the rest of the Summer shows aren't like this.
