Only known to fans for decades by Trey's introduction before 7/21/91's "Gumbo" at Arrowhead Ranch as "Steve-O from New Orleans" on "whatever you call that thing," this was in fact Stevo Nelson, who was indeed from New Orleans. As Stevo recalls, he was at the show to see the Radiators who were supposed to headline that day, but the Radiators' management had double booked them and Phish took the last slot in the show. Stevo had gotten to the show just as the Radiators were about done and he had entered the backstage area with his washboard (or as he called it, his "Spice Rack," which was a washboard with various attachments on it). Trey asked him what the instrument was and if he was with the Radiators. After hearing Stevo's story, Trey asked him to play the Spice Rack for a second, loved it, and asked Stevo if he wanted to play the encores with Phish. Stevo would play during both encores for "Gumbo," "Touch Me," "Fee," and "Suzy Greenberg." Stevo was interviewed in 2020 about the experience: https://www.wookplus.com/post/phish-horns-and-a-spicerack
