BestBandEver I honestly couldn't care less about up or down-voting. Unfortunately, the "like" button has unalterably changed humanity at this point and there's no going back. Can you imagine if Facebook or Instagram had a "dislike" button?! Yikes. Maybe it should just be removed...So, about the show: I loved it. The review was aggressively fine. I kind of doubt that they will do the EDM thing again but hey, maybe that will be the new WGTYM jam type? I'm sure they (read: Trey) spent a while creating it and I don't see them doing that ahead of time for just any random show. I could also see it getting pretty boring pretty quick if repeated too regularly (a la Dead and Co's EDM-laced drums sequences) but man, in terms of the "am I actually seeing/ hearing this?!" factor in the moment (which is kind of what everyone wants for the NYE gag) it was pretty much tops. Regardless of how you felt about it, you definitely felt something, and it was a strong feeling. Was it top notch EDM music? No. But was it was bold, risky, norm-challenging, humorous, joyful and creative AF? Yup. That's why this band rules. They routinely find ways to take your expectations, throw them in a blender, and splatter the contents all over the walls of your skull. I for one would have probably been more psyched to be there for this year's gag than last year's Gamehenge (alas, I was not present at either) for the same reasons I prefer Halloween 2013, 2014, 2018 and 2021 over any other Halloween shows - why see Phish do something that already exists/ has been done when you can see them create something completely new and unexpected? That's why we Phish. Can't wait to see what they do to blow our minds next.
