Great peek into the past. I was only vaguely starting to become of Phish at the time, and it'd be another year before I saw them, but I always get kicks out of hearing what things were like and when.

Small question re. the Hose ... maybe this is a subtle variation but I had always understood that the term was coined by Santana after watching Trey play, and seeing how fans were reacting. That is, he may have coined the term, but it would have been Trey's playing that really inspired the concept. Not sure where I originally read this.. Dean Budnick's old Phish Manual maybe..?
