Thanks Charlie. A couple items that I'm surprised get no or passing mention:

1) the 8/19 YEM. I love this version. It's muted at times but hardly typical for the recent era. Trey gets awful soulful and the rest of the band weaves a pretty groove that Mike suddenly takes over. It's a great jam, and, coming off an already hot as hell show seems worthy of mention to me. I'd probably rank 8/19 as the number two show of the year behind 8/31.

2) Speaking of 8/31 I'm constantly surprised that the Runaway Jim seems to be given second-tier jam status next to the Chalk Dust, Carini, and Undermind. (Maybe that wasn't your intention here but that's how it comes across.) They're all incredible jams, and I have a hard time putting one above the other. The only thing I could say is that the Jim is perhaps more stylistically distinct (and more dynamic?) than the the other three, so maybe this is why it gets glossed over. Or maybe we're all so happy that there was even a 20 minute second-set Jim opener in the first place that we're forgetting about the jam entirely.
