I think what people (myself included) mean by "risks," is not playing the song exactly the way it's been played many times before. Much of Phish's playing since coming back has been excellent but they only seem to want to step off the ledge every handful of shows. A Phish show is always fun to go to, but I've only listened to a few 3.0 shows more than one time and I'm beginning to get the feeling like I know what they're going to sound like before I even press play. Playing the right note at the right time means good musicianship and I think we are all thankful that there is plenty of that floating around these days.
