alright, so i know im gonna get voted down here but i would really, *really* like to know what great "energy" means to everybody out there. are we talking a 77 dead morning dew or are we talking a blistering 94 chalkdust? for the life of me, i don't understand what people mean when they say that anymore. i hear it an awful lot these days describing pretty run of the mill shows. if i went to a phish show that didn't have "great energy" i think it would be one of the signs of the apocolypse. has it become code for overall fun show with some nice guitar solos but no significant jamming? the pessimist in me suspects that this phrase has been turned in order to say something positive about shows that don't have a lot to offer. crowd interaction? emphatic vocals? head-bobbing by mike? trey smiling a lot?
