As most of us know, this Tweezer is currently part of the Live Phish
ensamble. This show is pretty good in most cases, with a good first and
second set list, and also i believe the songs they chose were very
entertaining, such as PYITE, First Tube, LLama, and i could go on, but ill
stop. While I may not be a pro at writing reviews on this type of stuff, i
really enjoy it, and i hope you do too. Now onto TWEEZER!
This Tweezer was clocked at 11:42, which is of very short length, but not
as short as some of the others. The second I heard this, I knew it was gonna
be funky. The song starts off slower then most others, which is cool because
it gives a different feeling, like being more relaxed, then other tweezers
with a more ROCK and Roll style on a fast beat. At 0:47 the main lyrics, Wont
you step into the freezer... come in. Trey plays the main tweezer riff with
Mike plucking the bass here and there. There is little pre ebenezer jamming,
if any really. There is barely any screaming, just a little on the side
stuff, its interesting. note that the end of the each line, trey doesnt
finish the word, example, Uncle Ebeneez. From here on, they just pretty much
do the main tweezer jam, sticking with the main riff until the 5:12 mark.
At about 5:12, they start to veer off into their jam, each doing there
own thing. You can here Page in the back just messin around on his piano,
while Mike is just jamming along happily. At about 6:32, Trey finds a
comfortable little groove and messes around with it for a little bit,
occasionally hitting a high note here and there, (pretty cool).
By about the 7 minute mark, the meat of the jam gets sort of confusing.
There is so much stuff going on, Treys languedoc, Pages piano, Fishs drums,
that it seems like they arent playing together, that there just off on their
own paths. But its still cool though, i think this jams could have been done
better though.
Near the 8:30 mark, the jam's intensity increases here a little bit, and
decreases there a little bit. Treys guitar by now is really blaring over
everything else.
10:46 the jams changes directions to enter the Walk Away theme. (neat
little transition)
11:00, Trey hints at the Walk Away theme a little bit, very subtle, then
strays away from the theme into a little extra Jamage haha, for about 7
seconds, until about 11:17, where they slowly pick up the theme again. The
end of Tweezer is the main riff of Walk Away. This transition was pretty
good, (maybe a little to fast, by this I mean they could have drawn it out a
little bit, it felt rushed), while being very subtle in some parts, but then
too fast at others. In my opinion I would give this Tweezer between a 7.0 or
an 7.5.
