Subject: 2/7/91 Pickled Tweezer Date: Tue, 24 Mar 1998 10:38:48 -0800 (PST) From: Charlie Dirksen2/7/91 Pickle Barrel, Killington, VT Tweezer kicks in just after the end of TMWSIY. Very upbeat opening section -- no question that they're comfortable with the song by this point in its evolution! Lots of excess "Tweezahhhh"s from Trey and Mike in the opening, and goofily accented lyrics. Screaming after Ebeneezer! Jam segment at 4:29. Niiice phaaat descending licks from Mike in the first thirty seconds. Trey's soloing is at first rather awry. Evil, de-centered off-key schtuff.. before he begins soloing in a more traditional fashion. Trey gets stuck repeating an unfriendly, annoying lick around 6 mins or so. Doesn't do much with it. Mike's accompaniment in particular is pretty good, though. That rich, deep, psychedelic sound. Trey begins playing in the higher octaves around 7 minutes, not really soloing.. blending well with the mayhem that is this Tweezer. OUCH!! Phaaaty funky notes from Mike around 7:45!! The closing jam is decent, with great playing from everyone, but nothing melodious. THE NOTE at 9:07, and then the typical steady, dying out of theme ending... and then after several seconds of no music, Tweezer Reprise starts up. And the crowd goes silent. A debut? I think so. It is as you have always heard it, basically. Total time for this Tweezer, Tweezer Rep. combo: 12:38. Easy 4.0 rating for this ole Tweezer.. two cents charlie
