History

One Man’s Trash is filled with curious tracks, from sound experiments like “Jump Rope (Fast Version),” “Jump Rope (Slow Version),” and “Tree Spine,” to the enigmatic lyrics of “For Lew (My Bodyguard).” So perhaps there is no better way to summarize such an opus than with 5 words, repeated several times in an overdubbed, monotone chant: “Now we’re talking kidney bean.” Like an imagist poem, “Kidney Bean” leaves the meaning to the listener while acting as the album’s musical ellipsis.
