History

Phish performed Neil Young’s barn-burning classic with The Man himself as part of their Farm Aid appearance on 10/3/98. For many fans this pairing of artists is the kind of thing dreams are made of, and in their first performance together, they did not disappoint. At nearly 19 minutes, this version of “Down By the River” is a fully realized, jam-filled take on Neil’s powerful rock anthem.
