Ya Mar was unfinished. Mike’s Song included a Funkytown tease, Foxy Lady quotes from Fish, and some memorable vocal interplay from the band that included a chant to “Bring in the Dude.” During Hood, Trey asked Chris Kuroda to turn off the lights for a Blackout Jam and the audience responded with a shower of green glowsticks. The opening act was J. Willis Pratt & We're Bionic.

Review by PhanArt

PhanArt This was my first Phish show and while at the time I didnt know much of the music, I return to this show to hear what I was blown away by.
I dug the Ya Mar opener, but didnt know the song. Sample and GTBT are the only tunes I knew, and the latter really got me pumped, being a big Zeppelin fan in high school and college.
Second set got really dark, sitting behind the stage was an experience but i got to see the majesty of Kuroda this night. The Mike's Song was insane and I kept looking around, wondering where this 'Dude' was. Listening to it again, it is the most rocking Mike's Song I have ever heard, and I love it. Every minute of this show is worth a listen. Set 2 is hot as hell.
A hometown show is a great way to start a life of Phish. I'm glad my friend Mike gave me a ticket for this show. 100 shows later, I'm looking back only with a smile.

Review by DARKH0LL0W

DARKH0LL0W WOW This show is insane!

The first set is great, the Ya mar >Axilla>Theme is a must hear .I loved the Tube! Vultures GTBT are solid.

The Second set is one of the best sets I have listen to. Dark and jammed out. Ghost is impossible for me to put into words ! PYITE and NICU are both dead on! The ending of PYITE is spacy and goes into ghost so well.
then the shit hits the phan! MIKE'S MIKE'S MIKE'S.OH THIS MIKE'S
the bring the dude jam puts this version in the best ever category! then its Llama, is it me, or is this the sickest way to go into Llama, they teased it the night before all during the second set, and when they went into it, the crowed gave in to a incredible release of energy! The sets only calm moment came with the beautiful When the circus came to town. The weekapaug>Catapault>weekapaug was as good as it looks, and Just when I thought the show was over, Harry Hood hits. this is a bad ass version with the first Glow stick war. Both songs in the encore were perfect. Coil is the only way this show, and this tour could end! The 3 day run of Rochester and Albany can compete with any before, and after.

Review by ucpete

ucpete Do yourself a favor and seek out the SBD recording of Ya Mar (Super Ball FTA)-- it's awesome. The Ya Mar portion itself is just fine, but the funk jam that ensues is awesome and epitomizes the rest of the preceding tour: you never know when the funk will drop.

Review by Doctor_Ocelot

Doctor_Ocelot My first phish show. I was in 8th grade. Bought somebkiller good herb off a guy in the bathroom. First time I remember being wicked stoned and fishman is playing a vacuum cleaner. The lights went out completely and I was confused. Instantly hooked. The knickerbocker arena kicked butt. I got interviewed by fox news after. Again I was in 8th grade. My buddys older brother brought us.

Phish is like that they just lure you in and you are hooked.

Like my fishing (phishing puns)??

Review by Bob_Loblaw

Bob_Loblaw Lower end grade of tour. High end of most shows played overall.

Ya Mar follows the opening song jam trend and has a nice mellow cowfunk jam. I love the crashing segue into Axilla although they stumble a tad, very unique. Theme is excellent like literally every single version from this year. GTBT is a top tier version compared to most, excellent work by Trey.

The 2nd set really gets going with Ghost which has a nice vibrating build during it. Mike's song is very unique in the fact that it has added lyrics by Trey and then the silly "Bring in the Dude" banter which seems to keep going surrounded by some pretty chaotic jamming. Hood although kind of fluffy in it's center does have a gorgeous transition into the outro section.

Nice long outro coming out of coil which makes it a special encore.

Overall not the best show of the tour, but a great one for any era.
