The Mockingbird narration started with references to The Wizard of Oz and also contained a tease of Miss Gulch / Witch's theme. Bowie had All Fall Down, Simpsons, Turn Turn Turn, and Random Note signals. Weekapaug contained a vocal jam, an On Broadway tease, and was unfinished. Love You featured a trombone solo, as Fish initially could not get the vacuum to work. BBFCFM featured Trey and Mike diving across the stage to flashing strobe lights. Jim was the opening act.

Review by DollarBill

DollarBill Ok show tonight. Kind of hissy bootleg, boomy Page heavy mix. A few chopped spots and tape flips.

Nice Jim to get warmed up. Good Forbins, complete with Icculus. Good Mockingbird. Pen and Sloth have a few warts in the middle. Landlady and parts of Fluff sound like Trey's out of tune. Broken string? Fluff's Travels has some rough spots too. Sparkle is good. Stash is really good tonight, good jam. Coil has it's problems in the middle, and after a rough start Golgi is a good closer.

So they save most of the antics for the Bowie intro tonight which leads into a messy middle of Bowie itself but a good jam anyway. Cavern is good. YaMar is fast and disjointed at times. The Mike's Groove has a weak climax tonight, and a few rough spots in Hydrogen. Weekapaug is pretty good, sounds like Mike is teasing his bass line to Contact, and a tape flip? The segway into Mango is cool, first one I can recall hearing like that. Horn is ok. Fish can't seem to get the vaccuum to work right away so you get a bonus trombone solo in Love You. "I need some duct tape." he says. Glide is ok, but Llama is a good closer, nice jam.

Double Mike encore again, just happened a few shows ago, is a little lacking although the BBFCFM is rocking as usual. Worst of all right as Fishman starts a little banter before the count off the bootleg gets cut! Oh well.

Ok show, a little lacking in energy and tightness.

Review by SplitOpenAndMule

SplitOpenAndMule I agree with Dollarbill's overall review, though I think the highlights elevate this show above others of this time period. I'd add that Trey really rips apart The Arrival in Fluffhead, it sounds like it might be a tapping solo to hit as many notes as he does, all in time. The jam chart entries are worthy, as Stash does include some unique full-band vamping, Mike's Groove is strong with great, weird, carnival-sounding, dynamic, and vocal playfulness, the Weekapaug Groove -> Mango Song is a really excellent segue, and with Horn and the Fish bit, you have a full segue bulk of the 2nd set. So that's nice. Also, the Mockingbird narration is one of the best to date, with some very funny aggressive yelling in Icculus.

Review by Pjfmc

Pjfmc The first thing you will notice about this show is yes, the bootleg is not the best quality and is extremely Page heavy, which really makes the fact that he is not playing a real piano stick out. But then... a rollicking Runaway J to kick things off and I don't care about the sound quality so much anymore.

Listening to the whole Forbin's... section, it really strikes me what an absolute oddity this band must have been in 1992. They're joking but they're not joking, the music is knotty but un-serious... they're doing a full band Wizard of Oz bit. This show started with straight-ahead All American bar-rock and now they are all shrieking "read the book" and half the audience is going nuts... incredible band.

Pen is good here. Well done. We cruise through prefectly fine Sloth and Landlady and then a high energy Fluff with an absolutely blistering finish. Seriously good. I always like Sparkle after Fluff. STASH. This is a great Stash, incredible for 92. A must hear. There are better Coils, it's fun to imagine the band surprised themselves with that Stash and needed a moment to recover. Golgi is such a great set closer.

Very enjoyable David B here to open set 2. Cavern is well done. Fast Ya Mar, foam Foam. Mike's Groove so good. Just listen to it. This is why people were already following this band and taping all of their shows. A very nice segue into Mango keeps the thrill going. Horn is well placed, then we get shenanigans and Glide into a great Llama closer. Encore is fun.

Maybe I'm just in the right mood today but this ones tips into hidden (if rough) gem territory for me.
